Luke Weil & Associates – Change in Purpose and Unexpected Changes Under the watchful guidance of her mentor Stephen E. Weil, Wendy Luke of Luke Weil & Associates learned valuable skills that enable her to turn museums lacking direction into mission-driven, useful institutions that enhance the culture of the greater community. Combining a keen knowledge of the industry, vast experience and a friendly disposition, Wendy is able to gracefully steer a museum towards success. Changing a museum’s purpose can be difficult for both management teams and employees, yet Wendy manages to make the transition almost seamless. Acknowledging that museums sometimes need a total reworking, Wendy strives to ease the concerns of her clients. She has experiencing serving ownership as an essential advisor, meticulously going through the inner workings of an institution with the aim of pushing it in a positive direction. Unfortunately, with change often comes hardship. Wendy assists employees that are no longer necessary, encouraging them to make the best of their remaining time, and teaches them to develop skills that will help with their future employment opportunities. She also uses her insightful intellect to match employees skill sets to positions she feels they will be best suited for. Wendy believes that a museum’s history is something that should be celebrated; it allows employees to feel good about the contributions they have made during their tenure. We live in difficult times and many museums are bearing the brunt of a stagnant economy. Staff sizes are being reduced, donations are fewer and institutions are suffering for it. Management teams often panic without someone to ease them through arduous periods. Wendy has seen it all and knows how to react to both prosperous and challenging times. She uses her experience, consisting of lessons learned in both life and on the job, to aid management with crucial decisions. A successful mentor knows how to address both the needs of the individual and those of the team. When a museum has to let people go, change direction or adjust policies, employees may become concerned, even frightened. in regards to their future. Luke Weil & Associates has the necessary commitment and knowledge to deal with any scenario, be it dire or fruitful. The worst thing management can do is let their institution stagnant, and while change is sometimes difficult, Wendy Luke’s presence will make it all the more palatable.
